Wytheville, VA – The Roanoke Times recently highlighted the inspiring story of Lily Formato, the 21-year-old owner of Formato Fine Arts, a thriving art gallery in downtown Wytheville. Since opening in 2018, Formato has transformed a historic building into a vibrant community hub for artists and art enthusiasts alike.
After graduating from high school, Formato worked at Cracker Barrel and helped her father renovate a historic building. Recognizing its potential, she persuaded her father to let her open an art gallery. Using her savings, she established the gallery, which initially named "Local Artists & Sellers," and later rebranded to "Formato Fine Arts."
Formato Fine Arts showcases a diverse range of artworks from about 40 regional artists, including sculptures, woodwork, glass, jewelry, and paintings. The gallery also offers art and dance classes, free improv sessions, and hosts various events, creating an inclusive and dynamic space for the community.
Passionate about art and community, Formato aims to bring new activities and energy to downtown Wytheville. Her dedication and entrepreneurial spirit have made a significant impact, earning praise from local officials and recognition from personalities like Tyra Banks.
