Created during Lily Formato’s Contemporary Ceramics class at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, this one-of-a-kind candle holder blends sculptural form with experimental surface design. Handbuilt using an unconventional clay body, the piece was finished with layered experimental glazes, resulting in unpredictable textures, color shifts, and subtle variations that make it truly unique.
The design balances function and artistry—perfect for holding a taper or pillar candle while also serving as a statement object on its own. Whether placed on a dining table, mantle, or sideboard, the candle holder transforms with light, revealing new dimensions in its glaze under flicker and shadow.
